Finish Strong

I have one last step before I close on my house and it gets underwriter approval; the inspection. I’m so nervous! I keep telling myself that it’s no big deal and that I don’t need a roof over my head, it’s not like I’m being evicted, lol.

It’s very hard to lie to yourself.

Anyway, to pass the time, I finished the Shelby. It gave me a sense of satisfaction and helped me focus. It’s amazing how sometimes art whets my appetite to create more and others I just feel drained and relieved. With this, I just swiveled my chair around and started anew.

Don’t mind R2, he’s a pet

But that’s for next week. In the meantime, be safe and enjoy the following video. Later! 😊

Lots of work and a big decision…

Hey guys! We’ll, let’s not stand on ceremony; I found my next house! (I hope) I’m going through inspections and appraisals now, but my financing is already in place, so hopefully in late March I’ll be closing 🏠

Unfortunately… I’m having to make a choice to move on from someone. With my mother dying from COVID last year, I slowly came to realise that I no longer value having constant companionship. So…

Yeah.

Anyway, my life is changing in other ways as well. I’ve already set goals for this year, and looking forward to achieving them. Quite a few are art related, so you get to come along my journey. Isn’t that fun?…

So look for me to start paying a little more attention to this page. And here’s what you were REALLY waiting for, lol. One more vid to completion!

Temporal Confusion

Holy cow, it’s Thursday! I owe you guys a whole video! Sorry about that. I’m still running around in hyperdrive from work and the days are sort of blending; I made someone a video production slate that said it was Tuesday! Ugh…

I’m trying to be more attentive to my craft this year. I’m also in the middle of home shopping. But you guys aren’t here for that, lol. So here’s my latest project and I hope you like it. This is part 1. Part two will be Monday, I promise. 🙂

I started this drawing in Adobe illustrator, so that I’d have clean lines.

Enjoy your weekend 😉

Surprise!

I have to admit; people can still surprise me. Here I am, sitting at my desk and I was drawing a blank. So I decided to change locales and took a lunch at Starbucks.

I decided to draw a car, but from the inside. I used to own a 66 mustang, which seemed like the perfect vehicle; simple and purpose built.

Of course, people started to crowd around. I’m used to it at this point and most are willing to let you work in peace and simply watch.

Most.

This one guy was VERY persistent. To be honest, he was getting on my nerves! But I stayed calm. I was in a public space after all. My desk was starting to seem like an oasis at this point.

The car that lead to the image I drew #rita

So…I explained. Turns out, he owns a 66 mustang. And you know what? He bought the drawing on the spot. I was a little surprised. But I learned a lesson. From now on, I’ll think “customer interaction” BEFORE I think “interruption”.

come back

I’m VERY busy lately and it’s my own fault. I’ve been working on a pretty big project that started in the wrong way….

…so I am a member of the Mustang Club of America. I’ve owned a few and I draw them constantly. Some of you already know that.

Well, last week I decided to post a couple on the group’s Facebook page.

Big mistake.

After a few hundred people contacted me to draw their personal cars, I decided to draw different ones from different eras and make them available for sale. To get everyone excited about the idea, I drew the new Shelby in illustrator and promised to include it in a coloring book that I was also making.

So far I’ve had a little over 8 thousand likes and a ton of responses.

I guess that I’m going to be busy.

Star

I’m officially homeless.

That is, I’ve sold my home of the last 20 years and currently don’t have another place to live.

There’s no joy in this. It’s me moving on with no enthusiasm and lots of regret. But you have to keep moving forward in life and I was haunting this place instead of living in it.

I still found time to draw. It helped me not worry so much. Helped me try to be a little more dispassionate to the situation.

Maybe it worked. Who knows?

In the meantime, I dreamed of racing this Mustang and what building it would be like.

It’s important to draw objects because you can easily start making objects that float in space, without any weight to them. Cars, robots, boxes; they all let you practically work on vanishing points and multiple horizons.

I was never a fan of kaleidoscope or ruler art. I hate all the erasing you have to do. But having objects on the same plane is a big deal. Also know your model, otherwise a concept like camber for wheels would make no sense.

Well, back to house hunting ☚ī¸

Asphyxiation

I have had a crazy couple of weeks! First, I went to work for a new company and they were really awesome people. Then, I was hired by the federal government! Yep, pension, benefits and horrible commuting! Today is actually my first day.

So I drew this weekend. A LOT.

The mustang is from a photo that I took at a car show. I was trying to combine my style with that of another artist, whose look I admire. Hopefully it comes off pretty well.

Next, since the CrossFit games were on, I decided to do a strong lady flexing. If you know me you know I’m all about those, lol…

For an old classmate, I did a commission of our high school mascot. It’s been a while since I’ve drawn animals, but people seem to like them.

Then there’s THIS abomination. Ugh. I drew this and the whole body is drifting towards the right because I held the tablet on my knee. ALWAYS do your work properly, kids. Lesson learned.😑

Anyway, that was that. I had fun and got rid of some of my nerves. Wish me luck!
