Slowly starting to find my target market for my art. Much like a Google search, it required me to wade past all the porn first.
I pretty much get all the usual requests; my girlfriend naked, movie star naked, cosplay/fictional character naked, etc. There’s only one problem…
…I almost never see women walking around naked daily.
Now ladies I will give guys this: yoga pants and spandex (A.) aren’t clothing and (B.) leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. I feel comfortable in my underwear too. But I don’t wear them in public…
Having said that, I find myself drawing a lot of physically fit women. So I’ve decided to draw them the way they look working out.
It’s not an empowerment choice as much as it is me personally not wanting to be that guy who can only draw pin ups.
I want to draw anything I want and have my patrons believe I can. Otherwise I get to be one more in a sea of tna artists. That doesn’t sound like growth to me. Do what you love, sure. But who says love is supposed to be stagnant?
TaDaaaaa! I’m done with all my client based art, so onto the fun stuff! Just in time too, because I was beginning to feel a little exposed. On the plus side, my art got better, so no complaints.
My furnace broke down weeks ago and since I live in the mid Atlantic area, that’s a big deal. It hasn’t stopped me from pretending that I’m a starving artist at the turn of the 20th century, working on commission. Only you know, without the hassles of walking EVERYWHERE.
I have a couple of ideas for images that I jotted down when I was too busy with the work of others to do them. Looking forward to conquering the riddle of hair (hint:my digital skills need serious work). But hey, if all pork chops were perfect, we wouldn’t have hotdogs, right?
This is part of a commission I’m doing for a poolhall called Triple Nines here in the area. They’ve been super nice to me and after they saw a piece I did for one of their customers, they wanted a few posters. No problem!
It’s funny though because the ladies got VERY competitive over who should be in it. The owner decided to go with the two who had been around the longest. Still, it was funny to be approached on the side for a paid commission by one of them. Game ON, I guess…
I pretty much spent all of the Labor day weekend drawing and drinking. This was for a friend and her sister. They’re both redheads, so the phoenix theme seemed appropriate, given their personalities. They were very happy, so I’m going to do another personal piece for someone else soon. For now though, its back to play for pay…
